Thompson & Morgan Hydrangea arborescens 'Strong Annabelle', as its name suggests, is a sturdy cultivar of the well loved 'Hydrangea Annabelle'. This deciduous shrub features enormous, rounded heads of white florets which stand proud on the strong stems. This well branched Hydrangea rarely flops due to its compact growth and makes a superb specimen for a shaded border or woodland garden.Plant Thompson & Morgan Hydrangea arborescens 'Strong Annabelle' in sunny or semi shaded positions where they can shelter from the cold, drying winds. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring it is mixed thoroughly and deeply. Chose a non-alkaline, fertile, moist soil. To protect the new delicate buds from frost damage, leave the faded hydrangea flower heads in place. Prune after flowering, reducing the stems to restrict their growth to the available space and to improve the shape of the plant. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant after pruning.
